In 2004 BFT Automation became a brand of the Somfy Group. Founded in 1969, the Somfy Group based in Cluses, in the South East of France; an area of the Haute-Savoie region at the heart of the Arve valley, a major site in the steel cutting industry.  

Over the last 50 years Somfy has expanded into over 60 countries through a network of 76 subsidiaries and is now the world leader in the home and building industry.

Since 1980 Somfy has produced more than 150 million motors for homes and projects. Somfy is now one of the largest manufacturers and supplier of controllers and drives for entrance gates, garage doors, blinds and awnings. They also produce other home automation products such as security devices.

Since joining the Somfy Group, BFT Automation has had the support to gain significant market share and build a structured distribution network. A change that has facilitated BFT Automation’s transition from a family-run business to a multinational organisation.
